The KOT (cat) group was founded in Poznań PL in 2004 by Wojciech Bąkowski (leader, singer, songwriter) and composed together with Konrad Smolenski (bass), Leszek Knaflewski (drums).
From 2005 a characteristic feature of the group is the use of cassette tape recorders, which the musicians used as instruments.
The group presented alternative music combined with poetry and audio-performance. Rhythmical melorecitation with tape accompaniment allows to classify the type of music to post-rap but the cool and melancholic appeal of the music stems from the group's fascination with the beginning of the 1980s and the New Wave aesthetics
